چکیده

The nonlinear effect degrades the system performance. Because nonlinear effects tend to manifest themselves when optical power is very high, they become important in WDM. Four-wave mixing (FWM) is one of the dominating degradation effects in wavelength divisionmultiplexing (WDM) systems with dense channel spacing and low chromatic dispersion on the fiber. Four wave mixing (FWM) is a parametric process in which different frequencies interact and by frequency mixing generate new spectral components. FWM can have important deleterious effects in optical fiber communications, particularly in the context of wavelength division multiplexing where it can cause cross-talk between different wavelength channels, and /or an imbalance of channel powers. The paper presents the design and performance analysis of four-wave mixing effect on the basis of output spectrums, eye diagrams, BER, eye opening and Q-factor for different values of channel spacing. Keywords— Channel spacing, Eye diagram, FWM, nonlinear effects, WDM

Suppression of Four Wave Mixing Based on the Pairing Combinations of Differently Linear-Polarized Optical Signals in WDM System

Data transmission in optical systems and increased transmission distance capacity benefit by using optical amplification wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology. The combination of four waves (FWM) is a non-linear effect in the wavelength division multiplex (WDM), when more than two wavelengths of light in a fiber launch will occur. FWM amount depends on the channel, the channel spaci...

Performance Analysis of WDM Optical Communication System in the Presence of Four Wave Mixing (FWM) Under the Impact of Channel Spacing with Variable Dispersion

Four Wave Mixing (FWM) is the parameter which restricts the transmission distance and bandwidth of optical communication systems. There are various factors which influence FWM, such as channel input power, spacing between channels, dispersion of fiber, operating wavelength and refractive index etc. The nonlinear effects tend to manifest themselves when optical power is very high and become impo...

Four Wave Mixing Nonlinearity Effect in WDM Radio over Fiber System

The optical networks are fast and error free but due to some nonlinearity effects, its performance degrades. The performance of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) in radio over fiber (RoF) systems is found to be strongly influenced by nonlinearity characteristics inside the fiber. In this paper, we have studied the effect of four wave mixing (FWM) as one of the influential factors in the WD...
